Off-season golf rates now in effect
Cleveland Metroparks has announced that Ironwood Golf Course in Hinckley, Ohio is now officially part of the Emerald Necklace. To welcome players to Cleveland Metroparks’ ninth golf course, greens fees at the course are only $9 for 9 holes throughout the month of November.
Ironwood Golf Course is a scenic 18-hole, par 71 public golf course that spans 150 acres. Located at 445 State Road in Hinckley Township, the course is Cleveland Metroparks’ southernmost golf course and is now officially part of Hinckley Reservation. The course features sloping terrain, hardwood forests, lakes, rivers, gorges, and contoured greens. It was designed by Harold Paddock and first opened in 1967.
“Ironwood Golf Course will allow us to continue to grow the game of golf during a period of record play and also permanently protect an important part of the Rocky River corridor,” said Cleveland Metroparks CEO Brian M. Zimmerman. “With scenic fall colors and off-season rates, there’s still time to enjoy our golf courses across the Emerald Necklace.”
In addition to remaining open as a public golf course, the acquisition of Ironwood Golf Course also ensures permanent protection of portions of the East Branch of the Rocky River. The course is located in an area that supports groundwater-driven primary headwater streams and Category 3 wetlands, making it a critical area to the health of the Rocky River and building upon the existing protections of the river and its tributaries through Hinckley, Mill Stream Run, Brecksville and Rocky River reservations.
With Ironwood Golf Course now officially part of Cleveland Metroparks, the Park District will apply its high-quality golf maintenance and care to the course as well as examine possibilities for future restoration projects to enhance and protect the course’s natural resources.
