Cleveland Metroparks is asking visitors to plan ahead for the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8. This once-in-a-lifetime event is expected to attract thousands of visitors across Northeast Ohio including to the Park District’s 18 reservations, golf courses and Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.
Cleveland Metroparks reservations will be open during regular hours of 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on April 8. In addition, Cleveland Metroparks golf courses, nature centers and Cleveland Metroparks Zoo will be open for visitors. Camping will not be permitted in Cleveland Metroparks.
Visitors are encouraged to download the free
Cleveland Metroparks mobile app to plan ahead, arrive early, consider alternative modes of transportation and expect higher-than-usual traffic to and from Cleveland Metroparks on April 8.
Due to the expected high visitation across Cleveland Metroparks, guests should expect vehicular access to park entrances will close as parking lots reach capacity. No parking will be permitted park in undesignated areas, in picnic areas or in grassy areas/on medians.
No matter where you view the eclipse, be sure to use solar eclipse glasses. Following the eclipse, guests can recycle solar eclipse glasses at
Edgewater Beach House, all
nature centers and
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in partnership with Cuyahoga County Solid Waste.
Cleveland Metroparks Police will be present on foot, bikes, in patrol cruisers and on horseback to assist in parking and safety.
