Begin learning to roll a kayak in the warmth of the pool! Be prepared to get wet as you will be practicing a wet exit (flipping your kayak) as part of the class and spend most of the program in the water. The entire program will be spent in the pool. Another Cleveland Metroparks paddling class will be occurring simultaneously in the pool. Please come dressed to be in the water and get wet. Locker rooms will be available for you to change after the program. Dress in synthetic materials avoiding cotton. Classes will begin promptly, so plan to arrive early. Please bring a completed waiver and review the participant equipment list.
Boat Capacity & Size:
Kayaks are more unstable when individuals are at or near the capacity of the equipment. Boats/equipment used for this facility/program can accommodate a capacity up to 275 pounds and 21-inch seat width at the hip. Whitewater kayaks are used for this particular program as they better accommodate a pool setting; however, basic rolling techiniques apply to many styles of kayaks.
