Donor: Current and former colleagues of Anne and Carol at the Society of Women Engineers
Tree Species: Black Gum
Cleveland Metroparks gratefully acknowledges Society of Women Engineers Staff for their support of the Legacy Fund. This gift supports reforestation in Cleveland Metroparks now and in the future.
This Black Gum tree was planted in Cleveland Metroparks Acacia Reservation in honor of Anne Perusek, director of editorial and publications, and Carol Polakowski, senior editor, in recognition of and appreciation for their many years of service to the Society of Women Engineers.
Since her first issue in January 1988, Anne has grown the Society’s modest publication into the award-winning
SWE Magazine, cultivating a thoughtful publication that has improved upon its appeal, professionalism, and impact each year. Carol has been an editor for the magazine since 2007, bringing with her both an attention to detail and a delightful sense of lightheartedness. They both retired in the summer of 2023, after many years of long days and late nights creating a magazine that is as engaging as it is enlightening.
Anne and Carol are both longtime residents of the Greater Cleveland area and are avid gardeners and environmentalists. This tree will stand tall in Acacia Reservation, a former golf course being restored to a more natural environment. We hope they can relax beneath its branches in their retirement and appreciate the nature flourishing around it.
With the deepest of gratitude and the fondest of memories,
Your friends and colleagues at SWE:
