Donor: The Kollander Family
Tree Species: White Pine
For over 30 years August Kollander was a daily hiker in the North Chagrin Reservation sometimes joined by his wife Maia, and always with his dogs. Whenever his grandchildren visited, he would take them for a walk to the Duck Pond and a visit the Education Center. August especially loved trees and planted many pines during his lifetime. August was a light to all who knew him. His gusto, sense of humor, vision, spirituality, and generosity was felt by all who knew him. The legacy of August's love of nature and the outdoors continues in his daughters Patti (Bruce) and Anne Marie (Mark), and his grandchildren Marcus & Julia and Nick and Michelle. His entire family is grateful to the Metroparks for their work toward restoring green spaces for healthier lifestyles and for all to enjoy.
