Dan enjoyed spending time exercising, surrounded by nature. He loved hiking, biking, and exploring his favorite places, taking long walks along scenic trails and going for bike rides while bonding with his loved ones. Most often, he could be found at Brecksville Reservation, having visited many of the Cleveland Metroparks reservations throughout the years.
Dan loved trees. For over 20 years, he planted many trees across his own large property. He would proudly tour his loved ones around and point out the newest additions, describing his work as "turning it into woods."
Legacy was important to Dan and he left one through the people that remember him and through the trees he personally nurtured. During a conversation with his daughter about life and death, he said that a part of him would always be with us.
His family hopes you can feel Dan's spirit and the pride he felt while surrounded by nature each time you pass by his legacy tree.
The photo of Dan Wingenfeld was taken at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo during a visit with his daughter and grandson.
