Donor: The Children & Grandchildren of Genevieve and Leo Gilbert
Tree Species: Tupelo
This tree is planted in memory of Genevieve and Leo Gilbert by their children; Larry, Carolyn, Catherine (Rich) and Louise (Greg), and their grandchildren; John, Grace (Dakota), Avery and Lucy.
Leo and Genevieve were members of Acacia Country Club and the family has many fond memories of spending time there in the 1950’s through the 70’s. Leo loved spending time on the golf course, and Genevieve and the kids spent time at the pool in summer and sledding down the hills in winter. Particular memories include the friendly staff and frozen Three Musketeers bars sold at the pool snack bar. Many family dinners were shared at Acacia.
Genevieve and Leo passed away before knowing that Acacia would become part of the Cleveland Metroparks. We are sure they would be delighted that people can now enjoy the beautiful green space that was once the golf course.
