Donor: Virginia Yurko
Tree Species: Red Maple
Cleveland Metroparks gratefully acknowledges Virginia Yurko for her support of the Legacy Fund. This gift supports reforestation in Cleveland Metroparks now and in the future.
In appreciation of the Yurko Family’s support of the Legacy Fund, Cleveland Metroparks planted a red maple tree near the Snow Road entrance to Big Creek Reservation and river ford in celebration of the time that Virginia and Joe Yurko enjoyed with their family in Cleveland Metroparks.
Virginia and Joe Yurko enjoyed many places within Cleveland Metroparks, but especially their time in Big Creek Reservation with their son Joey. Whether they were spending time with visiting relatives, having family cook outs in pavilions during summer rainstorms, watching deer, raccoons, turtles, and birds during trail walks with their dogs, or enjoying autumn colors, they were there! The Yurko’s also have special Cleveland Metroparks memories of Joey rappelling cliffs with Boy Scouts, playing baseball, “snipe” hunting, running cross country training trails and squeaking through winter snowfalls. Virginia and Joe were also ‘there’ to share their appreciation of Cleveland Metroparks with Joey and his wife Valerie and watch their grandchildren experience nature throughout the seasons along Big Creek that is a tributary to the waterfall behind Greenbriar Drive where the Yurko family home was built in 1962.
