Donor: Family of Johanna Malcolm
Tree Species: Swamp White Oak
Cleveland Metroparks gratefully acknowledges the family of Johanna Malcolm and her husband Gary Cooper for their support of the Legacy Fund. This gift supports reforestation in Cleveland Metroparks now and in the future.
Johanna loved visiting Brecksville Reservation. She enjoyed being among the trees and wildflowers and experiencing the magic of the leaf showers in the fall. The diversity of trails throughout Brecksville, and the occasional spotting of a horse on the bridle trails, always drew her in. Johanna especially enjoyed the Wildflower Loop Trail for a quick workout with its ups and downs as the trail winds through the forest along Wallin Creek. Johanna’s favorite hiking buddies were her loving husband Gary and best friend from high school, Peggy. Johanna and Gary also enjoyed many family picnics in Brecksville Reservation and taking in the scenic fall views.
The white oak tree planted in Johanna’s memory is located in the Meadows Picnic Area in addition to a legacy bench dedicated in her memory on the Wildflower Loop Trail.
This swamp white oak was planted Fall 2022.
