Donor: Family and Friends of Kathy Ronayne
Tree Species: Red Maple and Redbud
Cleveland Metroparks gratefully acknowledges family and friends of Kathy Ronayne for contributing to the Centennial Forests Fund. These gifts support reforestation in Cleveland Metroparks now and for the future.
Kathy Ronayne was a regular visitor to the Huntington and Rocky River Reservations for over 40 years. Kathy enjoyed walks and picnics in the park, watching the sunset at the beach and swimming in the lake. She delighted in nature, particularly the birds and butterflies. Kathy especially loved the mosses that grow in the cool, forested areas – “the lowly moss,” as she was fond of saying, was her favorite plant. Along with her husband, Lenny, Kathy planted trees and milkweed to expand the region’s habitat from their own backyard in Fairview Park on the edge of Cleveland Metroparks.
In her later years, Kathy found great comfort viewing the Rocky River from a peaceful spot under a tree.
This red maple will glow in autumn like the many sunsets she watched, flash red like the color of her hair, and reflect her favorite color of orange.
This redbud will cheerfully bear the promise of spring and serve as a reminder that Kathy is always with us.
