Donor: Family and Friends of Louis A. Wirth
Tree Species: Tulip Tree
The Wirth family would like to share its appreciation to its extended family and friends who have joined them to donate this beautiful tulip tree that has been planted in Big Creek Reservation in memory of beloved husband and father Louis A. Wirth.
The Wirth family’s appreciation of Cleveland Metroparks goes back to their childhood when Lou played baseball in what is now Brookside Reservation and Nancy rode her bike to classes at the original 'Trailside Museum' in Rocky River Reservation that was near the South Mastick Picnic Area. Lou and Nancy also enjoyed May Day activities at Wallace Lake during their time at Baldwin-Wallace College. These connections led to living on Big Creek Parkway for over 50 years and frequent visits to Lake Isaac and subsequently the Lake-to-Lake Trail that quickly became a favorite. In later years drives throughout the park brought a welcome peace and calm.
Lou’s love of family and children is perfectly manifested in the location of this tree near the Prehistoric Play Pit at the Lake-to-Lake Trail.
