Donor: The Clark and Eldridge Families
Tree Species: Autumn Blaze Red Maple
Cleveland Metroparks gratefully acknowledges the Clark and Eldridge families for contributing to the Legacy Fund. This gift supports reforestation in Cleveland Metroparks now and for the future.
Robert and Jean Ann Clark and their son Bob lived near the Valley and loved spending time there, including visiting the old Rocky River Trailside Museum and later the Nature Center. They loved hiking the paths and, as soon as the bike path was newly built, riding their bikes along it. Many of their park activities also involved Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, including cycling on group “bike hikes,” learning about boating safety at the marina and “practicing” on a boat ride on the Rocky River to the lake, picking up litter, enjoying cookouts, and planting maple seedlings on the hillside near Stinchcomb Memorial. In later years, they would take the grandmothers for Sunday drives through the Valley. This Legacy Tree is in loving memory of the Clark family and commemorates their abiding appreciation of and love for the beauty of the Emerald Necklace.
An autumn blaze red maple has been planted in memory of the Clark Family near Stinchcomb Memorial in Rocky River Reservation.
