Dr. Chris Kuhar has served as Executive Director of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo since 2013, managing the Zoo's extensive animal collection and overseeing the daily operations of the 183-acre facility that attracts over one million guests each year. As only the tenth director in the Zoo’s over 140-year history, he has overseen significant transformation of the Zoo including the additions of the Ben Gogolick Giraffe Encounter, Rosebrough Tiger Passage, Asian Highlands, Daniel Maltz Rhino Reserve, Susie’s Bear Hollow, Eagle Zip Adventure and the now underway Primate Forest, the largest capital project in the Zoo’s history. In addition to his leadership in Cleveland, Chris also recently served as Chair of the Board of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), which oversees more than 240 accredited zoological facilities across the world.
