Alerts & Closures

Current list of Cleveland Metroparks' location-specific closures and restrictions:

Big Creek Reservation

• Beginning October 14, 2025 - The Lake to Lake Trail bridge/boardwalk near Hepburn Rd. will be closed due to boardwalk repairs. Expected reopening by October 18, 2025.
• Beginning September 17, 2025 - The lower All Purpose Trail between Stumph Road and Snow Road Picnic Area will be closed for Drainage improvements and equipment use. Daily closures from 7a-2p until September 26, 2025.

Brecksville Reservation

• Beginning July 17, 2025 - The Hemlock Trail will be closed from the Gorge Trail to the Lower Chippewa Picnic Area for a trail rehab/construction project. The trail opening is TBD.
• September 24, 2025 - Meadows Picnic Area and Horse Trailer Parking Area will be closed for Fall Fest. The area is expected to reopen by 10:00am on Monday, September 29, 2025.

Brecksville Nature Center

• September 28, 2025 - Brecksville Nature Center will be closed for Fall Fest.

Hinckley Reservation

• Beginning June 16th , 2025 - Hinckley Lake trail between Johnson's Creek and State Road will be closed for dredging operations in Hinckley Lake. In addition, the Hinckley Lake trail between the spillway and West Drive connector will remain closed as it has been since October 2023 for ongoing construction at the spillway. The All-Purpose Trail and West Drive will be closed Monday through Friday from 6:00AM to 5:00PM starting June 16th, 2025, while dredging operations are in progress. This closure will be from West Drive Parking Area to State Road. Please follow all posted signs.

Lakefront Reservation

• Beginning October 20, 2025 - Lindsey Family Play Space will be closed for repairs. Expected to reopen November 3, 2025.
• Beginning August 5, 2024 through December of 2025 - The Coast Guard Causeway is closed for the US Army Corps of Engineers re-building of the causeway out to the old coast guard station. It is closed to vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles, dog walkers, and anglers.

North Chagrin Reservation

• September 27-28, 2025 - Squires Castle -  Cleveland Metroparks Outdoor Recreation will be hosting the Squire's Castle Family Campout Sept. 27-28. The gate to access Squire’s Castle Area will be closed from 6 a.m. on Saturday, September 27 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, September 28 for this special event. Cleveland Metroparks will utilize the parking lot, pavilion, ball field, and castle yard for the event. Find out more about this unique family outdoor experience at www.clevelandmetroparks.com/or.

Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

• Beginning August 18, 2025 - Lights are out at several locations along the Towpath Trail. There are no closures of these areas at this time. 
  • Between West 7th bridge South to bottom of the hill near Clarkfield tennis courts. 
  • Clark Rd., Bridge south to Quigley tunnel. 
  • Between W 7th Mounds and Mary's Picnic Area.
• Beginning October 20, 2025 - The Towpath Trail will be closed due to CSX Railroad repairing tracks on bridge over Towpath. 
  • Detour directions: Please see map here. Coming south on Towpath turn left where closure is onto bridge to go over Canal, take APT up the hill behind Canalway Visitor Center, turn left onto Whittlesey Way, take Whittlesey Way to East 49th turn right. Take 49th to entrance to enter back onto Towpath. Coming North turn right off of Towpath at closure, go up hill and turn left onto East 49th. Turn left from E.49th onto Whittlesey Way, take Whittlesey Way down to Canalway Center and enter onto APT behind Canalway. Take APT onto bridge over the canal and turn right back onto Towpath heading north.

Rocky River Reservation

• October 6, 2025 - Valley Parkway between Wooster Hill and Old Lorain Road closed for maintenance.

Washington Reservation

• Beginning October 15, 2024 – The Arborview Picnic Shelter will have limited parking and access to picnic shelter, playground facility and general ground for a Northeast Ohio Sewer District Construction project. Expected completion is August 31, 2028.
