Alerts & Closures

Current list of Cleveland Metroparks' location-specific closures and restrictions:

Brecksville Reservation

• Beginning December 3, 2025 - Meadows Drive from the Gazebo to Valley Parkway is closed to all vehicles/bicycles for the remaining of the winter. Expected to reopen around April 1, 2026.
• Between late February to early April 2026, Valley Parkway will be closed between Meadows Dr. and Chippewa Creek Drive.
• March 31, 2026 - Valley Parkway from Deer Lick Cave to Route 21 and Parkview to Valley Parkway will be closed.

Bradley Woods Reservation

• Between February to mid-April, 2026, this reservation will experience periodic closures on White Oak Lane at the main Bradley Road entrance on rainy evenings at or above 40 degrees.

Garfield Park Reservation

• Beginning January 22, 2026 - Garfield Parkway and All-Purpose trail are closed for replacement of the culvert under the parkway for Mill Creek. The closure will be from the Program Center bridge to the Red Oak Picnic Area. Detour directions: The All-Purpose Trail detour signage is posted. There is no detour for traffic to Red Oak. The area is expected to reopen around April 10, 2026.

Lakefront Reservation

• Beginning March 26, 2026 - The East Shelter at Upper Edgewater will be closed for repairs. Expected to reopen by May 2026.
• Beginning March 26, 2026 - Gordon Park - South will be closed for construction. Expected to reopen in April 2026.

Merwin's Wharf Restaurant

• April 13, 2026 through April 16, 2026 Merwin's Wharf will be closed for renovations. The restaurant will reopen on Friday, April 17, 2026.

North Chagrin Reservation

• Between February 26 to mid-April, 2026, this reservation will experience periodic closures on Buttermilk Parkway between Chardon Road and Sunset Lane on rainy evenings at or above 40 degrees.
• Periodic closure of Wilson Mills Trailhead parking 
• Beginning April 13, 2026 - River Rd (SR 174) between Chardon Rd (U.S. 6) and Mayfield Rd (U.S. 322) will be reduced to northbound traffic only beginning Monday, April 13, through May for an ODOT resurfacing project. This will impact Squires Castle, Chestnut Shelter, Buckeye Shelter, Oak Shelter, Old River Farm, and Horse Trailer Parking. Detour directions: Southbound Detour: Chardon Rd (U.S. 6) to SOM Center Rd (SR 91) to Mayfield Rd (U.S. 322)

Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

• Beginning March 13, 2026 - Various locations along the APT will be closed for routine tree work by the Forestry Department.
• Lights are out at along the Towpath Trail from Holmden Avenue to Canal Basin Park.

Rocky River Reservation

• The hill within Little Met Golf Course does not contain sanctioned trails and is therefore off limits to public access. 

South Chagrin Reservation

• Beginning February 23, 2026 - Miles Road sledding hill is closed. Coasting Hill by Solon Road is open.
• Beginning November 3, 2025 - Hawthorn Parkway between Harper and Cannon Road will be closed for bridge maintenance. Expected reopening is October 6, 2026.

Washington Reservation

• Beginning October 15, 2024 – The Arborview Picnic Shelter will have limited parking and access to picnic shelter, playground facility and general ground for a Northeast Ohio Sewer District Construction project. Expected completion is August 31, 2028.
