Apr. 2025 - The parkway and all-purpose trails will remain closed for the duration of the project. Please refer to posted detours below. The contractor is continuing with demolition of the bridge. They have completed removal of the existing superstructure, and in the coming weeks will work on partial repairs to the abutments and pier.
Cleveland Metroparks is performing rehabilitation of the Valley Parkway “Cedar Point” Bridge over the main branch of the Rocky River in Rocky River Reservation, adjacent to the cities of North Olmsted and Brook Park. Rehabilitation will include replacement of the superstructure with a composite prestressed concrete box beam superstructure and minor repairs to the abutments and piers.
Construction on the bridge is expected to last from March 2025 - August 2025, in which time the bridge will be fully closed. The southbound traffic on Valley Parkway will be detoured to Shepard Lane to Mastick Road to Columbia Road to Cedar Point Road, and in reverse for the northbound detour. See the detour graphic below for a map of the altered vehicular route.
To facilitate construction activities, the Valley Parkway Trail will be closed for the duration of construction. Access to the Trail outside of the construction limits will be maintained and the Trail traffic will be detoured when necessary, as shown in the pedestrian detour graphic below.
