Group Volunteer Projects

Join together to make a difference in your community!

Cleveland Metroparks welcomes volunteer groups for one-time service projects throughout our 18 Park Reservations.

Project availability:

  • Projects are available for groups up to 30 volunteers. If your group is larger than 30, they will most likely need to be split into multiple groups with projects at different locations or time frames. Groups smaller than 5 people, please consider our Drop-in Days of Service opportunities.
  • For groups bringing volunteers under the age of 18, please note that we require a 1:10 adult to youth ratio with close supervision for the duration of the project.
  • Our greatest need falls between April and October, but opportunities may arise on the off-season, weather permitting.
  • Most available projects are during the weekday between 8 am and 3 pm and are 2-3 hours in length. Limited weekend and late afternoons may be available.
  • Please complete the Group Project Request form at least 3-4 weeks prior to your preferred project date.
  • Reach out to [email protected] with any questions.

  • Your group can help keep Cleveland Metroparks free of debris! Clearing litter and debris allows us to ensure our guests have a safe and enjoyable experience while visiting our parks. Clean parks also provide a healthy environment for native plants and wildlife to thrive.

Litter clean up projects are available in all of our 18 reservations and are ideal for groups of 5-15 participants.

  • Invasive plants are a significant problem across the world. Cleveland Metroparks has long been battling a number of invasive plant species that are destroying natural ecosystems and eliminating critical habitat, food sources, and nesting areas for birds, mammals, and insects. Your group can join our Natural Resources staff to remove invasive plants throughout Cleveland Metroparks to help make sure native species can thrive.

Invasive plant removal typically takes place in the spring and are ideal for groups of 5-10 people.

  • Painting and staining projects help keep our picnic areas, shelters, fences, buildings, and other structures in great condiition and looking beautiful all year-round!

These projects are ideal for groups of 5-20 people and can take place in any reservation.

  • Gardening and grounds maintenance projects range from mulching garden beds to planting native wildflowers.

  • Lend a hand and help create a more sustainable trail system. Projects include digging, moving brush and leaves, and restoring natural areas around new trails. Come prepared with sturdy work boots, long pants, gloves, and plenty of water.
