Donor: Family of Jeffrey S. Rohde
Tree Species: Swamp White Oak
Cleveland Metroparks gratefully acknowledges the family of Jeffrey S. Rohde for contributing to the Legacy Fund. This gift supports reforestation in Cleveland Metroparks now and in the future.
Jeff Rohde grew up in Brook Park, Ohio. After graduation from Midpark High School, he became an expert automobile technician. Jeff loved music, photography, Ohio State football and spending time in Cleveland Metroparks.
Cleveland Metroparks represented a place where he could not only enjoy the beauty of nature, but also the balance nature provided him as he appreciated each season and the changes the seasons brought to everyone.
Although Jeff spent time in several reservations, he spent the majority of his time at Mill Stream Run Reservation at Wallace Lake fishing with his daughter, Lily. Additionally, he enjoyed writing music and playing the guitar with the sounds of nature. He particularly liked hiking the All-Purpose Trail near the Whitney Wetlands. Jeff was also a professional photographer on the side. It was in Cleveland Metroparks where he often photographed Lily with nature as his backdrop.
Jeff would be honored to have a Swamp White Oak as his legacy tree. He would appreciate the bi-color nature of its leaves and the fact that the tree would yield acorns for animals. He would appreciate knowing that the sturdy oak tree would be there for his family and friends to enjoy.
A Swamp White Oak has been planted in Bonnie Park in memory of Jeffrey S. Rohde.
