Ten Best Bikes Rides in Cleveland Metroparks


Royalview Mountain Bike Trail, Mill Stream Run Reservation

Start at the Royalview reserved shelter parking lot for this mountain bike trail with dramatic river views. Get on the Red Loop, but pay special attention to trail direction as it varies from day to day on this shared use trail. Check Twitter (@CMPmtb) for daily updates.

All Purpose Trail, Big Creek Reservation

Start at the Lower Fern Hill Picnic Area, and find the beautiful bridge over Big Creek. Go over the bridge and follow the trail south on this out-and-back route until you get to Lake Isaac. Take in the scenic waterfowl sanctuary before turning around and heading back north to where you started.

All Purpose Trail, Garfield Reservation

Jump on this trail at Iron Springs Picnic Area trailhead, and start on the all purpose trail across from the kiosk. Head out parallel to the road, keeping the big grassy field on your right. Stay on the paved trail as you go down the hill past Garfield Park Center. Stop and catch a glimpse of the ongoing pond restoration and then continue up the hill as you enjoy the old, large tree lined trail through this historic park.

Valley Parkway Connector, Brecksville Reservation

If road riding is your thing, start at Brecksville Nature Center and go right on Chippewa Creek Drive down the hill, turn right and pedal back up Valley Parkway past Oak Grove and Deer Lick Cave. Turn right on Meadows Drive for the most beautiful section of the ride on this punchy section with lots of ups, downs, and twisty turns. Continue on this road until you can turn right back on Chippewa Creek Drive.

Cleveland Lakefront Bikeway, Lakefront Reservation

Starting at Wendy Park ride the all purpose trail along the lakefront to the Upper Edgewater sign. Snap a photo by the Cleveland sign, then make your way back to Wendy Park, either through the park or by taking the W. 65th pedestrian tunnel south to continue along the Cleveland Lakefront Bikeway to W. 25th St., then along the Main Avenue Connector Trail to the Cleveland Foundation Centennial Lake Link trailhead at Main Avenue and Center Street and head north to the Wendy Park Bridge. Once you get back add a new more peddle strokes and visit the historic Coast Guard Station.

Towpath Trail, Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

Start at the new trailhead at Canal Basin Park in the Flats. Begin the trek on the Towpath Trail going southeast across the Carter Road Bridge, past the Scranton Towpath habitat, and up the hill towards Tremont, past the Sokolowski's Overlook and down to the Harvard Trailhead and back again. Or continue south from Harvard all the way to Rockside Road to enter the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Mountain Bike Trail, Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

When you visit CanalWay Center don't forget to bring your mountain bike. There is over 3 miles of trail to explore! The primitive trail has you following switchbacks down a hillside and the canal trail features smaller hills with views of the Ohio & Erie Canal.

Mountain Bike Trail, Bedford Reservation

You can travel nearly 10 miles of connected loops that link together along the all purpose trail. These trails have you twisting and turning throughout the forests of Bedford Reservation. You can choose your own adventure and mix and match loops to make your ride longer or shorter.

Red Line Greenway, Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

Begin at the main trailhead at Columbus/Abbey and go west along the trail to W. 53rd Street and either continue through the Michael Zone Recreation Center to the bike lanes on W. 65th St. to Edgewater Park and back or double back along the Red Line Greenway to the start.

Mountain Bike Trail, West Creek Reservation

With three connected loop trails, beginners and experts can enjoy mountain biking through the forests and hills of the West Creek watershed. Park in the Watershed Stewardship Center lot and travel south on the all purpose trail to the Grassroots Gorge Bridge which takes you to our Gateway Trail, connecting all of the mountain bike loops.
