Ten Summer Wildflower Spots in Cleveland Metroparks

 

Tallgrass Prairie, Brecksville Reservation      

See towering grasses and summer wildflowers in the tallgrass prairie in Brecksville Reservation. Take a short walk down the all-purpose trail to visit the nature center during your trip!

Meander along the Woodpecker Way Trail and immerse yourself in the life of the meadow. It is peak blooming season for Joe-Pye weed, goldenrod, ironweed and native sunflowers.

Wildwood Marina, Euclid Creek Reservation           

The hidden meadow of Wildwood Marina is something to behold! Park in the entrance lot and follow the paved path along Euclid Creek. Tall boneset, ironweed and goldenrod provide necessary nectar for migrating monarch butterflies along their journey.


 A family enjoys a leisurely walk on a park path, surrounded by greenery and the beauty of nature.


West Channel Pond Trail, Rocky River Nature Center          

The short half-mile loop trail around West Channel Pond is a great spot to see many types of wildflowers including jewelweed, asters, mallows and many more!

Towpath Trail, Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation          

Take a walk along the Ohio & Erie Canal to see a large variety of summer wildflowers in bloom including ironweed, Joe-Pye weed, goldenrod and asters.

Top O' Ledges Picnic Area, Hinckley Reservation      

Explore along the edge of the open fields at Top O' Ledges Picnic Area, then take the Buckeye Trail east towards Parker Road to walk along the edge of another open field habitat where wildflowers, birds and many pollinators abound.

Starting at Highland Picnic Area, take a hike on Squirrel Run Trail and immerse yourself amongst the blooming summer wildflowers.

Explore around the wetlands at Brookside Reservation to view the American lotus flowers in full bloom. The wetlands can be accessed by parking at the Cherry Tree Grove Picnic Area and taking the cut-through on the right side of the All Purpose Trail.

Beyer's Pond, Big Creek Reservation

Enjoy a short hiking trail lined with woodland wildflowers that will lead you to the secluded and tranquil Beyer's Pond. Wetland plants blooming in and around the water include bladderwort, broadleaf arrowhead, and pickerelweed.
