Ten Short & Sweet Hikes in Cleveland Metroparks


Marsh Loop, North Chagrin Reservation

Start this hike by the owl aviary then take the short, paved loop around Sanctuary Marsh and enjoy the scenic boardwalk. The climbable snake and frogs next to the Nature Center are a great spot for the kids to unwind after this hike.

Viaduct Park Loop, Bedford Reservation

Walk this short, paved loop to see one of the largest waterfalls in Cleveland Metroparks. The Great Falls of Tinker's Creek are surrounded by remnants of 1800s industry, as well as a 512 foot long sandstone arch that was regarded as an engineering marvel following its completion in 1902.

Bunns Lake Loop, Bradley Woods Reservation

The paved and accessible loop around the man-made Bunns Lake is a great place to observe waterfowl like Canada geese and several species of ducks. Park at the far back lot for a slightly shorter walk or by the Shelterhouse to extend your walk.

Acacia Headwaters Loop, Acacia Reservation 

This one-mile paved and accessible loop traverses a former golf course that has become a vibrant green space offering wildlife viewing opportunities.

Cottonwood Loop, Rocky River Reservation

Meander through the floodplain forest among huge cottonwood, sycamore, and tulip trees that thrive in this habitat. This level natural surface trail will take you on a less-than-a-mile route along the main branch of the Rocky River allowing for beautiful views of the river as you walk.

Henry Church Rock Loop, South Chagrin Reservation

This short loop takes you along the Chagrin River and through rich woodlands where you get a chance to step back in time. Make sure to journey down to Henry Church, Jr., Rock to appreciate the images that were carved into the rock over 130 years ago!

Hemlock Loop, Huntington Reservation

Take a break from the lake and enjoy the view on this trail that curves along the ridge above Porter Creek. The sandy surface bears witness to the presence of an ancient beach, while mature hemlock trees provide shelter for wildlife and a treat for the senses.

A wooden walkway extends towards a lush grassy field, inviting exploration and connection with nature.


Gorge Loop, Brecksville Reservation

Walk through hemlocks and along natural stone stairs to the bottom of the Chippewa Creek Gorge where you will enjoy amazing views of the creek, its shale cliffs, and huge sandstone boulders.

Lily Lagoon Loop, North Chagrin Reservation

This secluded trail is often forgotten about, which makes it the perfect place for a serene and leisurely stroll to take in the sights and sounds of Oxbow Lagoon. To find this trail, head a short distance south on River Road from the Squire's Castle lot and find a small dirt parking lot just off the road.

Keystone Loop, West Creek Reservation

Park at the Keystone Loop Trailhead to start this short and sweet hike through a forest full of oak and maple trees. Add the half-mile Skyline Trail to this loop to capture distant views of the Cleveland skyline.
