Ten Hikes with a View in Cleveland Metroparks

 

All Purpose Trail, Rocky River Reservation              

Park at Willow Bend Picnic Area and walk one mile south on the All Purpose Trail to the Berea Falls Overlook. There is one big hill along the way to make it a bit more challenging, but views of scenic Berea Falls are well worth it.

Eastern Ledge Trail, Euclid Creek Reservation    

This trail is one of our newest and begins with a beautiful bridge overlooking Euclid Creek. The rest of the hike features rustic stairs and gradual inclines that guide you up the impressive cliff with a rewarding view of the trees, creek and reservation far below.


A charming bridge that opens up to a serene park, surrounded by greenery and tall trees, ideal for relaxation and recreation.


White Pine Trail, North Chagrin Reservation         

Park at Strawberry Picnic Area and cross the street to enter the forest on a natural surface trail. After winding through the woods, you'll find yourself on a boardwalk viewing a valley and a small stand of 200-year-old white pine trees.


A wooden boardwalk leads to a peaceful pond, framed by dense trees and natural foliage.


My Mountain Overlook, Brecksville Reservation                

Park at Plateau Picnic Area and traverse up the stairs next to the shelter. Enjoy this shaded hike to the My Mountain Overlook, where you will be greeted by a charming view.

Mill Creek Falls, Garfield Park Reservation            

Find yourself at the biggest waterfall in Cuyahoga County after a nice stroll along a paved all purpose trail in the forest that follows the nearby Mill Creek. Park at Garfield Park for views of the Garfield Pond restoration or park at the waterfall for an immediate payoff.

Skyline Overlook, West Creek Reservation            

Park at Keystone Trailhead and stroll along the Keystone Loop to connect to the Skyline Trail. Hike the trail up the hillside to reach the Skyline Overlook for distant views of the Cleveland Skyline. Keep your eyes peeled for the beautiful pink blooms of steeplebush mid-way through the month of July.

Brookside Overlook, Brookside Reservation        

Park at the Meadow Ridge Picnic Area and head east along the All Purpose Trail to loop around wooded wetlands before arriving at the Brookside Overlook. Bald eagle and red-tailed hawk flyovers are a frequent occurrence in the Big Creek valley below.

Great Falls of Tinker's Creek, Bedford Reservation          

Park at Viaduct Park, then follow the All Purpose Trail down to the Tinker's Creek valley below. The Great Falls of Tinker's Creek are considered one of the most scenic waterfalls in northeast Ohio. Remnants of the former mills and powerplant, as well as the century-old arch add to the beauty of the area.

Henry Church Rock, South Chagrin Reservation                

Come prepared for stairs on this breathtaking hike! Park at the Henry Church Rock parking lot and follow the All Purpose Trail to loop around and down into the Chagrin River valley to find Henry Church Jr.'s work. Other features of the hike include a double waterfall in the Chagrin River, and picturesque ephemeral waterfalls that appear along the hillsides after a rain.

Ponds of Acacia, Acacia Reservation          

Park at the Acacia Reservation Trailhead and use the trail map at the trailhead kiosk or Cleveland Metroparks Mobile App to choose your own route through the network of paved trails that tour you past the center to the northwest ponds. Shade is limited, so walking in the morning or evening is recommended. Acacia's paved trails are a favorite of dog walkers, runners, and rollerbladers, with the ponds providing the perfect rest stops to soak in the scenery.
