Ten Wildflowers Trails in Cleveland Metroparks

 

West Channel Pond Loop Trail, Rocky River Reservation             

Take a walk on this trail through the wetlands behind Rocky River Nature Center to spy trillium, squirrel corn, Dutchman's breeches, bloodroot, trout lily, and many more of Northeast Ohio's ephemeral wildflower species. These beauties are fleeting so be sure to get out to see their stunning blooms.


A charming wooden boardwalk leads through a thriving green forest, showcasing nature's beauty and tranquility.


North Chagrin Nature Center, North Chagrin Reservation

The sprawling native plant collections at North Chagrin Nature Center are a great example of how to incorporate native plants into the home landscape. Dozens of species are available to view within a short walk, and include pollinator gardens, perennial edibles, a sensory garden, and spring wildflower garden.


The museum entrance framed by lush trees, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere for visitors.


Squirrel Run Trail, Euclid Creek Reservation        

The slopes lining Squirrel Run Trail have sheltered over a dozen species of spring wildflowers from trampling feet and grazing wildlife for decades. Arguably the best location for spring wildflowers in Euclid Creek's watershed, Squirrel Run Trail is worth a visit each week for spotting new blooms. Access this trail from Highland Picnic Area.

Scenic Loop, North Chagrin Reservation                  

Journey on the ridgetop above Squire’s Castle to find yourself immersed in a diversity of spring wildflowers. These flowers paint the landscape week after week giving you new experiences with each visit.

Sulphur Springs Loop, South Chagrin Reservation           

The lush ecosystem in the hills and valleys of Sulphur Springs Loop offers a wide range of spring wildflowers to enjoy. Favorites such as Virginia bluebells, trout lily, and trillium are just a few that thrive in this rich environment.

Hemlock Creek Picnic Area, Bedford Reservation           

Take a nice walk along the loop trail following the river from the Hemlock Creek Picnic Shelter. You'll find a nice variety of wildflowers, stunning groups of bluebells, and some accompanying interpretive signage.

Snow Road Picnic Area, Big Creek Reservation

Visitors to this location will enjoy a peaceful meander along Big Creek while also getting the opportunity to spot some spring blooms along the cliffside. More astute visitors will also spot the inconspicuous blooms of the pawpaw tree.

Maple Grove Picnic Area, Rocky River Reservation          

Stroll around the trails in the sugarbush to find a stunning display of native wildflowers that thrive in this floodplain habitat.

Persing Trail, South Chagrin Reservation                  

A hidden gem behind Look About Lodge, Persing Trail is home to a variety of spring wildflowers. This beautiful area provides visitors with a sense of solitude while enjoying the spring wildflowers that fill the land.

Buckeye Trail, Hinckley Reservation            

Jump on the Buckeye Trail, just across from the West Drive parking lot, where the trail winds along the creek and through a floodplain covered in trillium, wild geranium, and wild blue phlox. You can back track to your car, continue along the Buckeye Trail or take the trail up to Worden's Ledges to continue your adventure.
