BE A SMART SHOPPER
- Never buy wildlife or products made from protected wildlife or their parts - or support vendors who sell them. Encourage others to do the same. Help us Stop Wildlife Trafficking.
- Learn about the realities of owning an exotic pet and how to talk to others who might consider purchasing wildlife as a pet.
- Make a commitment to be a smart shopper and choose certified sustainable products:
- Download our Sustainable Palm Oil shopping guide to support companies committed to sustainable palm oil.
- Reduce single-use plastics: bring reusable shopping and produce bags, use your own travel mug at the coffee shop, and skip the straw.
RECYCLE YOUR CELL PHONE AND OTHER PERSONAL ELECTRONICS
- Eco-Cell recycles electronics to protect gorilla habitat and support gorilla conservation. Find the secure Eco-Cell collection box in the lobby of the Zoo’s Education building (on your left when you enter the zoo), or set up your own collection drive at your school or workplace!
- Save your broken or used holiday lights and extension cords throughout the year. Bring them to the Zoo over the winter holiday for recycling as part of the Lights for Lions program.
