Ten Places to Picnic in Cleveland Metroparks

 

Wendy Park, Lakefront Reservation      

Glorious views over the harbor and downtown Cleveland, paved trails, picnic tables and grills make Wendy Park picturesque and accessible to all. After a picnic, walk out to the former U.S Historic Coast Guard Station for views of the city from the mouth of the Cuyahoga River.

Squire's Castle, North Chagrin Reservation      

The historic Squire’s Castle is nestled in the heart of North Chagrin Reservation. Enjoy a covered shelter with picnic tables and grills or lay a blanket down and have a picnic on the lawn in front of the castle. Afterwards, take a short stroll over to Squire's Castle to learn about its rich history.

Upper Edgewater, Lakefront Reservation         

The views enjoyed during a picnic near the Cleveland script sign at Upper Edgewater offer an unparalleled vista of Cleveland and Lake Erie. Bring the children and stop at the Lindsey Family Play Space after for playground fun.

Towpath Trail, Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

Hike down the to the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath just below CanalWay Center. The field below the train trestle offers an excellent picnic spot for train lovers and is shaded by maples. There are large rocks that make for comfy seating and plenty of lawn to spread out your meal.

Snow Road Picnic Area, Big Creek Reservation            

Picnic goers will enjoy close parking to shelters and picnic tables while still being surrounded by nature. Kids will enjoy playing on the nearby swing set, cornhole and investigating Big Creek. Afterwards, enjoy a hike along the creek and either exit off of the Big Creek Connector Bridge to Parma Heights city center or loop back down to the picnic area.

Hinckley Lake, Hinckley Reservation     

Just east of the boat ramp, you can find your way to a point with picnic tables shaded by oaks with a great view of the beautiful lake. Afterwards, take a relaxing stroll around the lake.

Welsh Woods Picnic Area, Euclid Creek Reservation

Hemlock Creek Picnic Area, Bedford Reservation
