African Elephant Crossing at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo promotes elephant conservation education for all ages. This habitat's purpose is to ignite a passion for elephants and other African wildlife to encourage understanding of African habitats, human-wildlife challenges, and cultural surroundings.
In order to gain a better understanding of African Elephant Crossing prior to your Zoo visit, teacher kits containing lesson plans and hands-on materials for use in your classroom are available for check-out 2 weeks prior to your field trip date.
Kits are available from September- May and must be reserved ahead of time by contacting the Zoo Library at [email protected] to check kit availability and set pickup and drop off times.
Backpacks for use by you and your chaperones are available to your group for 90 minutes, although the program may not take the entire time. Backpacks must be reserved ahead of time by calling 216-635-3391. The backpacks contain step-by-step program instructions along with several handy tools that will help your students with their discoveries.
